Big news - A planning application
has been received on 31st July by the council for :
Change of use of part of restored landfill site to public open space and nature conservation including the erection of a pedestrian bridge, fences and secure gate, interpretation boards and construction of pond and drainage channels at former Priorswood Landfill Site, Crown Industrial Estate, Priorswood Taunton.

February 2009
There has been minimal activity noted in the last year. However
a well placed question has now revealed a little more guarded information on
the future plans for this site. It seems that Viridor are "considering
expanding the recycling capacity at Priorswood". Mike Hellings the managing
director of Viridor said "We expect any planning application to include
changing the restoration of the eastern end to form part of the overall application
for the site".
December 2007
16th Dec - The tree planted area is being strimmed.
September 2007
26th Sep - The grass has been cut now.
August 2007
1st Aug - OK so what has happened in the last year. Well on
the face of it, not very much. The area has been maintained, the grass has grown.
I guess it will be cut in the next month or so.
August 2006
31st Aug - The main area of seeded grassland is cut.
May 2006
16th May - Viridor formally take over Wyvern Waste 6 weeks later
than planned.
March 2006
24th Mar - Maintenance work being carried out on the very young
trees that border the NorthWest corner
There has been some activity on site in March. I speculate that this is surveying related to the planned takeover of Wyvern Waste by Viridor.
December 2005
The Somerset Wildlife Trust are meeting with Wyvern Waste just
before Christmas to discuss plans.
November 2005
30th Nov - The drains are being cleared and it becomes obvious that access for
heavy vehicles will be required right through the middle of the site.
16th Nov - The resculpting has progressed into a fair sized hole with sloped sides in the south eastern corner. This could become an interesting marshy area, although it is rather overshadowed by trees.
12th Nov - There is some resculpting work in progress in the south eastern corner on the dry stream bed. I understand this to be related to flood prevention.
October 2005
The main area has turned green as it has been seeded with a grass and wild-flower
mix.
